2015 Dues

To attempt to save money on mailings, I'm copying my 2015 billing letter here with some slight changes. We will only send paper bills (as a FIRST mailing) to those who do not pay their dues by January 19, 2015; our next meeting.

From Ted Seeber, Grand Knight, 15485

To the members of John Clare Council 15485;

Standard Dues is $35. As you are likely aware, our council is very small indeed- we appreciate your membership whether you are very active or rarely active, whether you are an Associate, Insurance, Honorary Life, or Disabled member. Normally, I'd assure you that we have enough in the bank to cover our obligations to Supreme and State, and while that is still true this year, there have been some changes in November you need to be aware of.

On November 13, 2014, I was required to be at a meeting at St. Anthony’s in Tigard for the District, and the world shifted- or at least the mission of Knights in Oregon shifted. About three months before, I had received word of a new program from Supreme.

I looked at the book and promptly lost it. I did not think we had the manpower or the time to support this. Then came the meeting at St. Anthony’s. We were connected over Cisco Webinar to 30 other districts and councils around the state. At this meeting we heard from the State Chaplain, the State Deputy, Fr. Luis from Colorado, Archbishop Sample, and Bishop Liam Carey. And we were told we Knights will be in charge of promoting this program from Supreme, and the Archbishop was “ordering, begging, and pleading” for us to support this program.

The program consists of a book, free from Supreme + shipping, that gives parents a resource for home prayer. $103.51 was spent on shipping to get 300 copies of this book for our council, we are handing them out at St. Clare’s, St. John Fisher, and St. Elizabeth Hungary. It also consists of council activities and a Family Movie Night. For the Family Movie Night it is costing us $310 per parish for a copyright license.

St. Clare Friday Family Movie Night will be 2nd Fridays in the Parish Hall at St. Clare’s.

If you are not Disabled or Honorary Life, I urge you to pay your dues this year to help us build our cash flow back up. As usual however, you have three options. First is to pay your dues, using one of the following two methods:
-- Send check---John Clare Co (or K of C) 9260 SW 70th Ave, Portland, OR 97223
-- PayPal to Friend or Family
Second is to contact the Grand Knight, and plead your case- we’d rather have you as a member than let dues stand in your way, and we will never require dues from somebody who cannot pay.
Third is to hand write a note if you no longer wish to be associated with Knights of Columbus, and get it to Phil for processing.

Your prompt attention in this matter will be appreciated.
