Litany of the Sacred Heart

Dear Brother Knight,
On Friday, June 16, Catholics around the world will celebrate God’s love for us on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a day to honor Christ’s humble gift of his very self, offered out of deep and abiding love for all of humanity.
This Friday, however, is also the day the Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball team has chosen to celebrate a group of men who masquerade as Catholic nuns and mock the Virgin Mary, consecrated women, and Jesus Christ himself, through their shocking displays and vulgar behavior. As noted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the decision of the Dodgers is “not just offensive and painful to Christians everywhere; it is blasphemy.”
In response, the USCCB has called on Catholics to pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 16 “as an act of reparation for the blasphemies against our Lord we see in our culture today.”
The Knights of Columbus urges its members to respond to the call of our bishops and make a stand for respect, decency and our Catholic faith. Through prayer and by making reparation, we’ll draw ever closer to Christ’s Sacred Heart, which Pope Francis has said is “the source of love and peace.”

------------
Pray this Litany on June 16

Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy
God our Father in heaven have mercy on us
God the Son, Redeemer of the world have mercy on us
God the Holy Spirit have mercy on us
Holy Trinity, one God have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, Son of the eternal Father have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, formed by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mother have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, one with the eternal Word have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, infinite in majesty have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, holy temple of God have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, tabernacle of the Most High have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, house of God and gate of heaven have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, aflame with love for us have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, source of justice and love have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, full of goodness and love have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, well-spring of all virtue have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, worthy of all praise have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, king and center of all hearts have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, treasure-house of wisdom and knowledge have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, in whom there dwells the fullness of God have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, in whom the Father is well pleased have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, from whose fullness we have all received have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, desire of the eternal hills have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, patient and full of mercy have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, generous to all who turn to you have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, atonement for our sins have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, overwhelmed with insults have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, broken for our sins have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, obedient even to death have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, pierced by a lance have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, source of all consolation have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, our life and resurrection have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, our peace and reconciliation have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, victim of our sins have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, salvation of all who trust in you have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, hope of all who die in you have mercy on us
Heart of Jesus, delight of all the saints have mercy on us
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us
Jesus, gentle and humble of heart. Touch our hearts and make them like your own.

Let us pray.

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that we, who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son
and recall the wonders of his love for us,
may be made worthy to receive
an overflowing measure of grace
from that fount of heavenly gifts.
Through Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen.

Another Successful Breakfast

Gross $333.22
Expenses $115.97
Net $217.25

Pretty good for light crowds- only served 45 breakfasts.  That is average giving of $7.40 a breakfast, and it only cost us $2.57 a plate.  Plenty of spare pancakes went to St Vincent De Paul.

Here are some pictures from the Breakfast:

Meet our new general agent

Lake Oswego council is holding a Fraternal Benefits night.  Cicero and his wife are moving to Vancouver from Hawaii.

Gentlemen,

Please let me know if you will attend our General Agent Cicero Seisdedos Fraternal Benefit Presentation this Monday, June 12 (7-8 pm) in the OLL Parish Hall.

I ask because it's mission critical that we get at least 14 members attending this presentation as part of our efforts to achieve Star Council this fraternal year.

Thanks very much and hope you can make it Monday!

Moving Help Needed

I am hoping that a few members of the K of C can help a woman who currently is residing at Brookvale Assisted Living to her home.

Her moving date is possibly Thursday June 29th, but there are options for the Friday or Saturday. She needs to be out by the end of June. Her name is Edith Luther and her room # is 325.

Brookdale is located at 11552 SW Lesser Road - parking is scarce and there is only one elevator in the building.

She has one mattress - which is big and bulky and heavy, one bed frame that she claims is not heavy, one TV, one night stand, small dressed (about 3 foot by 4 foot), one lamp, and a few boxes.

Her home address is 2122 NE 116th Ave. off of San Rafael St. 97220.

A van or larger pickup truck would be great or If need be, I will rent a U Haul van, but I would appreciate some members to give a hand loading and unloading.

To volunteer and co-ordinate, email Deacon Bill at dcnbill@saintclarechurch.org

Volunteers needed for the SJF Breakfast June 11

Hot on the heels of a very successful breakfast, let's do it again!  We're looking for volunteers for the June 11 breakfast at St John Fisher!

Email Mike Devlin to volunteer.

A Very Successful Breakfast

Despite being a bit shorthanded, the breakfast was very successful.  Some raw numbers:
$730  Gross

$221 expenses - $198 n Ken Paulsen's shopping, Ted and Christopher bought the milk for $23

$509 profit.

140 plates served, with an average of $5.22/plate donation, $1.57 in expenses per plate.

Without our normal people doing milk and OJ and coffee, we only just barely got drinks out in time, but a BIG thank you to James Michael Morgan, Gene and Cathy Andres, Shannon and Ted Seeber, and Don Mey on setup Saturday, which was accomplished before 7pm.   To Ken Paulsen for shopping, as usual, though we did use Christopher's employee discount to get a better price, we discovered a sale at Safeway that was better for the Chocolate Milk, so Ted and Shannon hit both.

On Sunday, Ted  started making coffee early, and Gene showed up early to start sausages and getting ready.  James Michael Morgan and Don Mey also came in early to work, Scott Young and our Egg Man Mike O'Phelan came in to do their thing.  James Morgan, John Creegan and Gene Andres were the face of the first shift on the serving line, Dan and Erik Reichers were at the money table.  Paul Pompili was on dishes as Don Mey came in and out doing double duty for Admin council while still in his KofC apron to advertise the breakfast.

The Children's choir came in hungry.  We ran through the blueberry pancakes, chocolate milk, and even hot chocolate quite quickly.  Kids even came up for seconds and thirds on eggs and sausage!

Rich came at 10:30 to replace James, Mike Devlin came in to finish dishes.  Christopher even showed up at the end to sweep.  We left the place as clean as we could.
