Volunteers Needed For Breakfast This Weekend

There is still a need for volunteers to help with the pancake breakfast at St Clare this weekend.  Help is needed for all shifts—Saturday 6pm to 8pm, Sunday 7:00am to 10:30am or 10:30am to 2pm.  Please reply if you will be available to help with one, all or a portion of any of the shifts.  If you only have an hour or two I’m sure that will be helpful.
gene.andres@comcast.net

Remember the time change, and volunteer for the Breakfast!

Do not forget to fall back, perhaps for the next to the last time, Saturday night, turn your clocks back an hour.  Sleep in that extra hour, and then volunteer for the Breakfast at St. Clare's!

Let Gene Andres know which shift (or custom hours) you wish to work:  8:00am-10:30 am or 10:30am-2pm.  The more people who volunteer for the later shift, the earlier we will be finished!

Hi Guys,

Since Tom and his team will not be available for the degree in December, I decided to not reschedule it January because there is a 2nd & 3rd Degree @ Sherwood in February. Thanks for your help and willing to reschedule I think this would be better.

Quo Vadis Movie Night

Worthy Brothers All,

Assembly 3219 in Beaverton, Oregon will be hosting a public event to promote our initiative for Our Lady, Help of Persecuted Christians. This movie from 1951 takes place during the Roman Empire and features the persecution of many early Christians. It is not too graphic. The intention of this movie night is to help us remember the sufferings that many in our world undergo even today simply for their belief in Christ. Let us pray for the religious freedom of all.

The details are here:
Saturday November 9th
6:30pm in the school cafeteria
Holy Trinity Catholic Church/School
13715 Walker Rd,
Beaverton, OR 97005

For those who haven't been to Holy Trinity before, the cafeteria is around the campus in the back. It will be a little down a slope.

10:30am-cleanup Sunday November 3rd.

Please contact Gene Andres  to volunteer

New Recruitment contest

We finally got our raffle prizes to our winners, but since we had only two people give us interest cards, we could only give away two out of the three prizes.

In keeping with the discussion at the last meeting, I am proud to announce the Knights Recruitment Contest!  The man who gets the most new recruits to their 1st Degree by the Sherwood Degrees on February 15th, will get this nice shinny $50 gift card for Safeway.  Good luck, and get recruiting!

Fr. Ricky Manalo,CsP at St. Clare's

From: Pia de Leon <Pia@saintclarechurch.org>

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday a wonderful surprise proposition came to us from Fr. Ricky Manalo,CsP, an Oregon Catholic Press composer, a much sought-after international speaker on Liturgy and a Paulist priest, to speak on the liturgy since he will already be in Portland on Nov 5.  This is a last minute offer which I think is gift from God.  This speaker is as dynamic as he is as a composer.  His love for the Catholic liturgy has brought him to many parts of the world both teaching and learning at the same time about people’s practices and experiences of the Eucharist.
This is what he would like to share with us.  Through his presentation entitled “Do you see what I see?”, Liturgy through the Traditional, Modern and Postmodern Perspectives. he would like to discuss the intersection of these world views in the celebration of the Liturgy.
Please plan to attend this event at St. Clare on November 5 at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall.
Thank you so much,

Pia

used laptop needed

Hi Ted,
I have a friend, whom I'm also representative payee for, who is on SSD because of mental and physical handicaps who is requesting a donated laptop computer to use. Could you please send out an announcement to see if any Knights or their families/friends may have such a laptop they would be willing to donate. If so if they contact me I would be happy to pick it up and take it the man making the request.

Thanks,

Tom Owens

For all who do announcements in St. Clare's Bulletin

Deadlines for St. Clare's bulletin have changed.  Ted usually does announcements for the Knights, but you should all be aware of the new deadlines:
    Dear Bulletin Contributor,
I am writing to let you know that the deadline for submissions to the parish bulletin has changed.  Catholic Printery in Seattle is no longer printing our bulletins as their owner retired and transferred the bulletin printing services to Liturgical Publications, Inc. (LPi).  The new printer is located in Las Vegas, so the shipping timeframe is longer.   Therefore, I now have to send the completed bulletin to the printer by Monday at 11am...rather than Wednesday at 11am.  So the two lost work days will need to be made up during the previous week.

This means I need bulletin items/notice of flyers by 8am on Wednesdays for TWO Sundays ahead.

For example, if you want to have a bulletin item in the Oct. 20 bulletin, I need your item by 8am on Wednesday, Oct. 9 (tomorrow morning).
For Oct. 27, I need the item by Wednesday, Oct. 16.
For Nov. 3, I need the item by Wednesday, Oct. 23.
    Etc., etc., etc. …

However, if you let me know that you are planning a flyer by the Wednesday deadline, I really don’t need it until 8am on Monday morning as long as it is in a pdf format, with a ½ inch white border and printer ready with no editing required.

I know this is a BIG change for all of us as we will need to be planning way ahead of what we have been doing for so many years.  I will try to be as flexible as possible until we get used to it.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you for the good work you always do in keeping the parish bulletin full of interesting events, activities and information.

    With much gratitude,
    Laurie Zupsic

    Another successful Breakfast

Under the wise leadership of our Deputy Grand Knight Gene Andres, the breakfast at St. Clare's went off quite smoothly.  Thank you to all who volunteered.  Final results are:

    $515 Gross
    $358 Net
    $179 donated to St. Clare
$179 kept for our council (money needed to cover Delta Drive activities next weekend- we hope anyway).

Next Breakfast will be at SJF on October 20th

Ambassadors needed at St. Clare's this weekend

It's a Delta Drive- and one of the things that means is FAMILY.  We need 6 people at each Mass- two per door- to hand out Fr. McGivney Prayer Cards and to pick up response cards after Mass, as well as represent the Knights at Coffee and Donuts or the Wine and Cheese after the 5pm Mass.

So grab a spouse or a child (including grown "children"), and let me know which Mass you can attend- Saturday night at 5pm, Sunday morning at 8:30am, or Sunday morning at 10:45 am.

I know I've talked to some of you personally, but I have no definite commitments as of yet.  We need 9 families total- 3 at each Mass- so come on out and prove to the St. Clare community that we do not leave our families to volunteer, we lead our families to volunteer.

Volunteers Needed For Breakfast This Weekend

There is still a need for volunteers to help with the pancake breakfast at St Clare this weekend.  Help is especially needed for the first (Saturday 6pm to 8pm) and third (Sunday 10:30am to 2pm) shifts.  You can reply to me at gene.andres@comcast.net to let me know when you are available or just show-up.  Walk-ins are welcome!
