but first- this Saturday is March For Life!

March for Life 2023

Join thousands of local pro-life advocates for this year’s annual Oregon March for Life at the Capitol in Salem, on Saturday, January 28th at 2:15PM.

Archbishop Sample will attend and speak at the rally. This will be the first March for Life rally since Roe v. Wade was overturned before it could reach its 50th anniversary—a huge win for pro-life advocates and something to celebrate!

Unfortunately, abortion is still legal until birth in Oregon for any reason, which is why it's important to speak out for pro-life. Join the march on January 28th to let Oregon leaders know that we will not stop advocating for the preborn and dignity of human life.

Prior to the march, Archbishop Sample will celebrate a special Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salem at 12:00 p.m. Please join us for Mass before the march!

St Andre Bessette Volunteer Opportunity

 Volunteer Opportunity

The letter below is from John Kowalczyk, a St. Clare Parishioner. If you are interested please contact John directly and copy Don Mey @ GK@kofc15485.org

Hello Knights of John/Clare Council. This is John Kowalczyk, a long-time member of St. Clare Church who has been involved over the years with many different St. Clare Church activities. Currently I alternate weekly as Sacristan and Lead Usher at Sunday’s 10:45 Mass and coordinate our Church’s St. Andre Bessette Ministry which involves preparing and serving a hot dinner every third Friday evening of the month to the downtown poor and homeless.

I thought I would give the John/Clare Knights the first notice of a volunteer need.  I need one additional volunteer to join our small group that prepares the dinner  at St. Andre Bessette Church. We have one carpool that leaves St. Clare’s office parking lot at 3:30 PM on the third Friday of the month for St. Andre Bessette Church on West Burnside (formerly the Downtown Chapel). A person does not need cooking experience for this job.

We have enough volunteers who come around 5:15 PM to brown bag the takeout dinner and help distribute it to the guests who arrive between 6:30 and 7:30. Because of COVID dinners are not served in the dining room at this time as they were before COVID. Some time in the future St. Andre will go back to indoor service.

The cooking crew will serve three Mt. Angel seminaries dinner in the dining room who come early each Friday night as part of their seminarian exposure to the downtown poor and homeless. Afterward the cooking crew does kitchen cleanup and stays for a short prayer service by Pastor Tom before leaving around 8 or 8:30 PM. Attendance every month is not absolutely necessary. If you are interested or have questions give me a call at 503-341-7493.

Reminders of upcoming pro-life events

This Sunday, and Next Saturday, we have a chance to stand up for, and pray for, the victims of the culture of death.

At St. Clare's on Sunday, January 22, 11:45-1:45, we will join the angels in Eucharistic Adoration, with intentions offered by the Peace & Justice Committee, Sisters in the Spirit, and the Knights of Columbus.  We're in charge of the Glorious Mysteries Rosary, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  Please e-mail Ted Seeber at seebert42@gmail.com to volunteer to take a decade of either. It'll be easy, there will be cheat sheets on the Ambo.

And then, a week later on Saturday Afternoon, down in Salem on the very steps of the Capitol Building, we will be protesting the extreme culture of death that still exists here in Oregon.
