September 9- St. Clare Picnic Call for Volunteers

Just hit reply to volunteer for the St. Clare picnic.  We will need 4 people at 8 am to set up the grill, warming ovens, and crab cooker for the hot dogs.  We will need a team of 3 people to cook- Michael Chau and Ted Seeber and Chris Griffith have volunteered for the first shift.  We'll start cooking at 9:30 this year and use the warming ovens to get ahead of the rush.  Mike Devlin will be doing the soccer challenge again.  Christopher Seeber will be bringing out the Lego Church Project, I think he can do it on his own this year.

I'd appreciate men willing to cook starting at about 11am when the 2nd wave starts as the Dragon Dash participants start returning from their 5k, that way we can let the volunteers eat and have time with their families as well.  I don't think we'll still be cooking after 2pm.  If you can volunteer for the later shift, please let Ted Seeber know at seebert42@gmail.com

Save the Date, Formation and Knighthood Degrees December 1 at St. Matthew's in Hillsboro

It appears from the State Degree Schedule that the next Formation and Knighthood Degrees in our area are on Saturday, December 1st at St. Matthews in Hillsboro.  It looks like the State Degree Team is not working as hard this year- only degrees scheduled are in Springfield in September, Hillsboro in December, and Mollala next April.

As you are all aware, our council is in desperate need of men willing to be officers- and to be an officer, you need to have your Knighthood degree.  Please consider saving the date of Saturday, December 1, and we'll run a carpool from St. John Fisher.

If you are ashamed of the name of Columbus, you need to watch this

I have heard a few intellectuals at our parishes disparage the name of Columbus.  The following video, not even done on faith but by a historian who knows both Spanish and English.
