Junque and Jewels setup and tear down and next Knights Meeting

Busy weekends coming up.  Friday, June 12 is the Friday Family Movie Night, Despicable Me.  But it is also setting up the Gym Floor for Junque and Jewells- both start at 6pm.  Saturday morning is setting up tables for Junque and Jewels.  They start accepting Junque at noon, so we need all hands on deck!

Monday June 15th will be our most important meeting of the year, voting on officers.

The end of Junque and Jewels this year is on Father's Day-  Sunday, June 21. Theresa and Claire Marie have told me that the Knights are in charge of tear down also!

So all hands on deck for a very busy week at St. Clare's.

Knights of Columbus Council Badges

When talking with Don Mey last night at the Pentecost Setup, I realized it was time again to offer the council badges.  Especially since I have now lost 4 someplace in my house.

When Michael Chau and I were at the convention, I realized several of the Ladies were wearing 3rd degree Lady's badges.  When I asked, I found out that in support of the concept of marriage being God joining together two souls, the wife of a 3rd Degree member can wear the Emblem of the Order in Oregon.

So I'm putting together an order of Council member slip badges, and magnetic back smaller badges for our ladies.  All badges for both will contain the council number, the cut-to-shape-emblem, and the name of the person.  Council member slip badges will also include the words "John Clare Council".  The badges will be $10 each, I can't afford with this new job to be quite as generous as I have in the past.

Any takers should e-mail me with their badge ordering information.  I'll be putting in the order June 1, so we should have them at the Council Election Meeting June 15.

Our keen eyed FS noticed- meeting Monday May 18

Meeting is Monday May 18, agenda post has been corrected!

Whiteboards

If anybody knows of a worthy organization, Treasurer Mike Devlin has six white boards (for presentations or messages) to donate to a worthy cause. They were left behind by a business that had vacated an office building I am involved with leasing. Five are about 32'x40' and the other is about half that size. Two are fairly heavy. All are in pretty good condition.

If these do not find a home by June 13, they will be donated for the Junque and Jewels sale at St. Clare's.

Pentecost Volunteers Neeeded!

I need four or five to help set up for the Pentecost celebration at St. Clare's. I realize this is Memorial Day weekend, but as Fr. Stobie says, Pentecost is a day, not a season, and we go by the Catholic Calendar, not the secular one. March 23 at 6pm will be the setup time, right after Saturday Night 5pm Mass, so hopefully that's past any sporting events. Tasks will be setting up food booths and moving tables in the Parish Hall (where we normally do our breakfasts).

MacDonald House Library Donations

Tom Owens wants to remind us that he is working through the Knights to collect donated Catholic and secular books for the library at the MacDonald Center in Portland. They could bring such items to give to Tom Sunday after the 8:30 Mass at St. Claire's, or Monday evening May 18 to the Knight's meeting and give to Michael Chau. I'll be in Texas that evening but Michael could collect and hold them until I return on May 19th.

Update on Millie Dover

Debbie Peerenboom says Milie is doing well. She's very weak still and can't stand unassisted but she's eating!    She had spaghetti and green beans for dinner!!!!!  There is high hope that if she gets strong enough she can move to rehab at West Hills soon. She's in excellent hands at Good Sam Room 440 and able to take quick visits from everyone.  The miracle continues!
