Volunteers needed for Friday Movie Night May 8

Gonna get the tickets to hand out, so maybe we'll be back up in numbers.

Need another Volunteer for Mother's Day 10:45am Mass at St. Clare's

Due to the Boy Scouts wanting to buy carnations for their mother's at St. John Fisher, and Shannon wanting to go to the Mother's Day Adaptive Mass at St. Rose of Lima, I need a volunteer who will be attending the 10:45 AM Mass at St. Clare's to wait until everybody is gone, gather up leftover flowers and cash envelopes, and get them over to St. John Fisher for the 5pm Mass.

Answered Prayers

From Mary Bundy:
------------
Millie is talking!!!!!!!!!! Not 100% but can respond to requests. They took her off the ventilator today and are really watching her. Her voice is understandably quite raspy but is able to handle ice chips and sherbet. She really wanted more of that sherbet!!!!!! So her sense of humor is even back. She says she's very tired and will probably rest a lot. She's overcome her first hurdle. If there is any breathing difficulty they now know what her wishes are. Halleluia to all those angels and Holy Spirit that have been with her!

1st Degree in our district

If you have anybody available, take them to Tigard. They will be having a 1st Degree at their meeting next week. Candidates are to be there May 6 at 6:35 PM. Please let me know if you have a candidate so that I can send a 1st Degree kit and a signed Form 100 along with you. I have Pastoral Council that evening.

On Baltimore

I forgot that our Supreme Chaplain is the Archbishop right in the center of this fight. Please pray for the safety of the innocents in these riots.

Mother's Day Volunteers Required

Edited to update the information on Millie Dover

At the insistence of Fr. Stobie and with the blessing of Deacon Scott, the Mother's Day Flower Sale is on. Due to Millie Dover's illness (she only today woke up from heart surgery more than a week ago, please pray for her) the Knights are in charge of both parish flower sales. We need volunteers, so please let us know what Mass you can attend at either parish. Selling flowers is easy- just stand at your station with the basket and smile!

For St. John Fisher, we will be selling after the following Masses: Saturday 4:30pm, Sunday 9 am, 11am and 5:30 pm. Contact Deputy Grand Knight Ken Paulsen to volunteer.

For St. Clare's, we will be selling after the following Masses: Saturday 5:00pm, Sunday 8:30 am and 10:45am. Contact Grand Knight Ted Seeber to volunteer.

St. John Fisher Eucharistic Miracle Display a Success

Those who viewed the exhibit were genuinely impressed. We raised $70 for the True Presence Eucharistic Adoration Association. Ken, Phil, Al, Mike, and some members of the parish helped with set up, tear down and hosting. And it's always fun to see the kids / young people moved by what they're learning.

Congratulations to Ally B of St. Clare's School

An Essay from our Council Essay Contest won the 8th grade division for the State. Ally B will be presented with a check for $50 from the State at our next meeting on Monday, May 18 at 7pm.

Fr. Theo's third homily to the Knights in his new series

At the end of the convention, we had commitment to produce at least three more of these- paid for by districts. The aim is to get at least a dozen made, so that councils that do not have chaplains can show them at meetings.

Shakey Cam of Archbishop Sample's speech to the convention

Sorry about the quality. You may want to boost the volume as well.

Jesus did not recruit saints

When the Apostles were recruited, they were not yet the Saints they would become.  Neither are the men you should be asking to join our council.  Knights take good Catholics and make them great Catholics.  Our Council needs 7 new Knights by June to make Star Council.  I want each of you to ask 3 men in May to join our ranks.

If you have a smartphone, you can have the flip book and a Form 100 always available:  go to the App Store and download "Knights of Columbus: Join Us" today.

First video from the State Chaplain's video series.

Fr. Theo Lange has produced videos for councils just like ours- councils without a chaplain. I will post one a day from the Convention in Newport.

1st Degree next Monday, April 20

Our April meeting will include a 1st Degree, so be sure to talk to any men this weekend that you think would make good Knights. I have a verbal commitment from Brent Rea, who was baptized at Easter Vigil this year at St. Clare's, but it would be nice to have more than one. Have Candidates meet in the Fireside Room at 6:00pm, 1st Degree will be at 6:30pm, and our meeting will be at 7pm.

Needed, volunteers

Last time I didn't have enough people for cleanup, and as Roberta put it "worst KofC cleanup job ever, popcorn got everywhere!". If you can be there through to 9pm for cleanup, please drop me a line to let me know that you are coming!

Boy do I look unhappy in that picture

I hate having my feet touched.....

From our Recorder- a call for Good Friday Rosaries

Let's give it a try----

The Holy Rosary

Imagine what might happen if every Catholic in the world would pray a Rosary on the same day! We have an example in October of 1573, when Europe was saved from the invasion of the mighty Turkish fleet, by the praying of the Rosary by all Christians!

So, on Good Friday April 3, 2015, let us all pray a Rosary for peace in the world and the return of moral values into our communities.

If possible, please pray your Rosary between Noon and 3:00 PM. Also, please e-mail this message to every Catholic on your address list, and ask them to pass it along to every Catholic on their lists.

Let's unite in praying one of the most powerful prayers in existence, for these intentions, on one of the holiest days in our Church year. God bless us all!

Send this to your prayerful friends and see how the Holy Spirit works! There is a great deal to gain and absolutely nothing to lose!
