Leave No Neighbor Behind - One Year Mark

Brother Knights,

One year ago this month, the Knights of Columbus announced the Leave No Neighbor Behind initiative, calling members to serve those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic while following health and safety guidelines.

In a new video, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly recognizes Knights’ achievements throughout the pandemic. WATCH VIDEO

I would like to recognize and extend a huge thank you to James Michael Morgan who has run the Leave No Neighbor Behind initiative for our Council 15485 (John Clare) tirelessly in such a caring, compassionate way.

·       Volunteers meet by telephone with an assigned parishioner and/or their care proxy and walk through a series of questions to create an online scheduling game plan

·       Volunteers use their internet prowess, click speed and tenacity to schedule an online appointment on behalf of the parishioner.

·       Volunteers keep in regular telephone contact with their assigned parishioner to apprise of scheduling status.

Would you like to participate?

·       Please send an email to stclarevaccinehelp@gmail.com

·       Introduce yourself and include a telephone number for a volunteer to contact you directly.

Virtual Easter Spirituality Reflection by Fr. Theo Lange

From Ron Boyce (Knights of Columbus Oregon State Deputy)

Brothers,

Sometimes we need to step away from our daily things and take care of the “inner man.”  As Easter approaches, Fr. Theo Lange, our State Chaplain, invites to do just that.

On Thursday evening March 18 at 6:30pm, he invites us to join him for a live internet presentation: “The Knights of Columbus An Easter Spirituality.”  In it, he will share how the mystery of Good Friday and Easter morning are at the heart of Columbian spirituality.  Fr. Theo, a truly inspirational speaker, is uniquely qualified to lead us on this journey in faith.

I encourage you to take part in this special program. It is also an opportunity to invite other men of your parish to learn more about what makes the Knights of Columbus so worthwhile.

To register please email Larry Mullaly at lmullaly@jeffnet.org.

May the Light of Easter illumine all we do!

Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly’s Message to Members

Brother Knights,

Mr. Patrick Kelly’s tenure as the Order’s 14th supreme knight commenced March 1, 2021. He begins his term in office with a personal message to all Knights of Columbus members, which you can view by clicking HERE.

Stand for Life

 A request from Council 6266

Peace of Christ to you!

I could use your help with a call to Knights to stand for life.  Please ask the the area GK,s to send the request to their council members.  Request below.

I received a request from the ladies who are working hard on the 40 Days For Life campaign at the Planned Parenthood on SW 1st and SW Betts in Beaverton across the street from the Post Office.  The campaign is a peaceful vigil of prayer and information on options for those considering abortion which lasts for the 40 days of Lent from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Monday - Saturday.

Last Saturday, the ladies met with resistance from a group of protesters dressed in black.  The ladies were met with shouting and loud drums.  Some of the ladies were traumatized by the actions of the protesters.  We have been asked to come to the 40 Days For Life campaign on Saturday to stand in support of the ladies.  The counter protesters showed up around 10:00 AM and left around 2:00 PM.  Let us stand with the courageous ladies as they advocate for life for the unborn.  This is a peaceful vigil and we will do our part to keep it peaceful.  We are not mixing with or engaging the protesters as we will be across the street from the Planned Parenthood.

On Saturdays, after the morning mass at St. Cecilia's, the rosary has been offered across the street from Planned Parenthood for the last 18 years.  The rosary begins around 8:45 AM.  Come and join us in prayer and support for the unborn.

This is the preeminent struggle of our age.

I would encourage my Brother Knights to consider stopping by the 40 Days For Life during Lent and especially on Saturday's.

God love each of you.

Scott Petersen
