Spiritual formation

If you do not already do so, you really need to check out Mater Dei Radio's Voice of the Shepherd.  It normally runs 7:30 pm on Tuesdays, and 7:30am on Sundays.  So far, Archbishop Sample has been excellent!

Volunteers still needed for Coffee & Donuts at St. Clare's this Sunday

Dear Volunteers, For this Sunday, we still need help with Coffee and Donuts at the 8:30am Mass. If you are available to prep and/or serve, please let us know by replying to this email and copying Pia de Leon at pia@saintclarechurch.org. This shortage is due to Knights not being able to a do the breakfast with Ted Seeber and Micahel Chau out of town, so let's step up and help for the 9:20-10:45 shift.

Thank you very much! We appreciate your service.

St. Monica and a complaint I've heard in our council

I don't normally crosspost articles from other blogs, even Catholic ones.  But I've often heard the complaint in our council about adult offspring who have rejected the faith. This article at Patheos about St. Monica seems most fitting.

Because Michael Chau and Ted Seeber are out of town

We were unable to do the breakfast for St. Clare's for August 30. This leaves a hole in the Coffee and Donuts volunteer schedule. Ted just got this automated e-mail from the scheduler:

Dear Volunteers,
We have noticed that there is noone signed up to help with Coffee and Donuts after Masses this Sunday, August 30. If you are available and are willing to volunteer for this service after either Mass this Sunday, please let us know by replying to this email and copying Pia de Leon at pia@saintclarechurch.org.
Thank you very much!

I believe merely letting Pia know if you are available for C&D duty will be enough.  Let's get some Knights in to fill this need!

BIKE RIDE!!!

Next Saturday August 22 at 10 am.   For Knights, families, children, friends... anyone who wants to come enjoy the good weather and some fun activity before summer ends and school begins.

We're meeting in at the Garden Home Tualatin Valley Recreation Center Parking lot.  (That's across Olson Rd. from Lamb's Thriftway and Shari's Restaurant.)

Here's a map:  (I hope this prints....)

We're starting at the right side of this map ("START HERE") and biking west to visit Vista Brook Park so that the kids can play on the swings / slides etc., then onward to Burgerville for a milkshake at the upper left corner of the map.

This will be a leisurly ride, as bikes share the paved pathway with pedestrians.  There are a couple residential street that we'll cross and Old Scholls Ferry Rd. near Burgerville - otherwise, there is no auto traffic along our route.  The ride is slightly downhill toward Burgerville (and slightly uphill on the way back!).  I think it's about one mile each way.

The early ride should avoid the heat, and we'll only cancel if it's snowing.  So bring your bike, your helmet, your kids, grandkids - all ages.  I guarantee you it will be fun.  I have some extra bikes - call me if you need one.  Ken - 503-245-6540.
