Message from Mike Higgins

I've received very little interest in the group thus far.  I'd had hoped for at least 6 members to start.  It may be premature to arrange for a first meeting before the 1st Sunday of Lent, this coming Sunday.  I'd like your reaction to whether we should start meeting now.  If not, I can keep advertising in the bulletin and see if we attract more interest.

When we meet I'd like to focus on the Sunday readings.  I was thinking such a group would make a good Lenten practice but we needn't rush into this.

Once we get started I was imagining we'd meet monthly.  I didn't advertise a time and place in the St Clare bulletin because I wanted to decide upon a mutually agreeable time.

If you are interested in proceeding at this time, let me know (higgins46807@hotmail.com).  We could proceed with only 4 of us.  If everyone is interested, I'll suggest times using NeedToMeet.  We can meet at St Clare.

Break in at Mother and Child Education Center

A break-in occurred over the holiday weekend at Mother & Child. Two windows were broken - 1 completely shattered -  and an interior door sawed through. If you were in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or have any information on this please call the police department immediately, as a police report has been filed. Two laptop computers were also stolen: Toshiba & HP Elite 8452. The police have been notified of these items as well.

As an organization that works to empower parents and families, this is a violation to our staff and to the families we serve. Please know, while we are closed today, we are here.  If you have an emergency need please call. We ask NO IN-KIND DONATIONS are made TODAY, FEB 21.  Mother & Child is will continue to provide support to and offer a safe space to all who are parenting.

To all who volunteer with us, and to all who give monetarily helping to keep our doors open and services at no cost - thank you.

If you would like to make a donation in any amount to help cover
the replacement cost of 2 windows, 1 door, and 2 computers

RIP Gert Welsh

from SIS:
Michael Lytle, Gert Welsh's nephew, just called to say that Gert died in her sleep last night.  May she rest in peace; may perpetual light shine upon her.
Funeral arrangements are pending but it will probably be later in March--at St. Clare's, which we all know Gert would have wanted. She loved our parish.

January Volunteer Hours Due February 14!

Please Report your volunteer hours for January- we realize these will have been severely curtailed by Snowpacalypse!

Dear Brother Knights,
Please remember to submit your hours to me.  You can use the form that Ted has set up or email a list of what you have done, ideally sorted under the columns of Community, Life, Youth, Church/Vocations, Council and Family.

Yeah, I get to sleep in on Saturday

Timing of the Degrees in Sherwood has changed- and so have our plans.  Noon for 1st, 1pm for 2nd, 2pm for 3rd, puts us out at about 5pm.  Place has also changed- the Old Knights of Columbus Hall on Oregon St (found address by using Google Earth, but this is close enough.  It's the brown building next to the old church that is now rented out to Protestants):
15677 Oregon St
Sherwood, OR 97140

Carpool from St. Clare's will be leaving at 11:00am.  I would still like e-mails if you plan to either watch or get your 2nd and 3rd.

Degrees in Sherwood, Saturday, February 11, 8:30am at St. Francis's

Since my push didn't get us any new Charitable Degree recruits, I will meet anybody who wishes to carpool at St. Clare's at 8:00am, and we will go directly to St. Francis's to observe the 1st Degree.  Please note that to observe degrees, as well as sign up to get 2nd and 3rd if you have not done so, you will need your current paid-up membership card.

Please e-mail me if you wish to carpool so that I have a count.

K/C Breakfast BIG success!

Hell-o Brother Knights,

I'm happy to report that we NETTED $390.25 which I believe is a new world record (for our council).  I'd like to credit the egg cooker (yours truly) for this feat, but in fact I think it was Ted's blueberries that deserve the largest share of the credit.  We always have a lot of fun at these events - the camaraderie is great - but we were shorthanded this time.  Still, we pulled it off - and this big take, with so few helpers means we each may have surpassed minimum wage!  HA!

So thanks to Don Mey, Ted Seeber and son, James Michael Morgan, (not sure which name he's using today but his $800 apron said "Mike"),  Paul Pompili, Mike Devlin, John , Daniel Solomon, John Creegan, Phil Jarvis, and three very nice ladies from the parish:  Laura Bowers, Lynnette Howes, and Kevi (don't know her last name), and also last night Michael Chau and Jim Van Domelon and his wife Judy, and I'm sure I've forgotten somebody.  (Stirring eggs does that to a brain...)

Breakfast tomorrow!

All hands on deck.  We're a bit short for 8:30am Mass, so if you can get to St. Clare's for first shift, or better yet volunteer for the whole day, we'd appreciate it.

While snow is in the forecast, it looks like it won't arrive until afternoon, so the breakfast will occur.
