From the State Deputy

 Worthy Brother Knights,

Many of you may have heard at this point that St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in Salem experienced a devastating fire
early on 8/31. This is extremely devastating to our Catholic
community in Oregon and especially the Salem metro area.
It is one of the largest Parishes in the State.

It is in times like this, when we as Knights are called to step
forward to assist those in need. I have reached out to the
Parish, the Council, the DDs in the area, and the Archdiocese
on guidance on how best to proceed. I also made correspondence
with Supreme. Having reached out to these resources, I have the
following information for all councils and would like to strongly
encourage each and every member of the State to assist in
any possible way.

1. There will be a public Rosary in the parking lot at St. Joseph's
on Sunday evening 9/3 at 7pm. Thank you very much to the
Keizer Council for helping lead this effort and promote this. It is an
exemplary example of brothers helping brothers. I would like to
encourage all councils to encourage their members and parishioners
to attend.

2. If any member or council is interested in providing some financial
support, this would be greatly appreciated. Please write the checks
to Oregon State KofC Charities and we will direct the funds accordingly.

Brothers, one thing that has always greatly impresses me about the
Knights of Columbus and the Order is that we step up very quickly to
disaster situations such as this. We did this in COVID, with the fires,
disasters out of State, and many others. Men, it is an opportunity to
step into the breach! Let us as Knights become who we were born to be!

Thank you, Vivat Jesus!
