From the State Deputy

Brother Knights,  I think we all know the basic tenets of Holy week, and the special time it is for Catholics and other Christian denominations. One thing we sometimes forget though is that this is like Super Bowl week for our parish priests. He is going to be busy every day this coming week, and much busier as we head into next weekend (Easter).  Please, as a council and as individuals, talk to your parish priest, and ask him what he would like councils and individuals to do to support him. Be sure to have council support for your parish on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.  Make sure that all the ministries are staffed. If you have adoration on Holy Thursday, make sure that Knights are there in numbers. Be ushers and greeters on Easter Sunday.  This may be the one day a year a lapsed Catholic comes back to Mass. Make sure he feels welcome. Please, no "long time, no see" comments. Preach the Gospel with your actions! It may make all the difference in the world to one soul. Warmly welcome your new brothers and sisters in Christ at Easter vigil, and talk to the men about what the Knights of Columbus are all about and how we would love to walk with them as they continue their Faith journey. Every Knight in the parish can be a blessing this next week, so let's be fully involved. And when it's all over, invite your parish priest to dinner, or at the very least, come up to him and thank him for his vocation. No priest means no sacraments. It would not be Holy week without him.

Vivat Jesus.

The State Officers wish you and your families a very blessed Easter season, and look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming convention in Hermiston.
God bless,
