The Letter Film From Tom Owens

I was looking over the OPB Primetime monthly listings for March last night and saw that they will be showing the new film featuring Pope Francis and 7 individuals he invited to the Vatican to share their thoughts and actions regarding the critical issues of climate change and protecting our environment.  I had seen The Letter: a Message for Our Earth in December and was extremely impressed with the content, professional quality, interest level, and the motivational impact on becoming more aware and acting to create change. The film brings to life Pope Francis encyclical 'Laudato Si'. I believe it also demonstrates how Catholics can work collaboratively with members of other faith groups, the 'none's and community and business organizations, and to practice skills in listening and supporting each other.

The film will air at 8 pm on OPB (channel 10). I would encourage you to share the information with others and watching it yourselves. People can also watch it online at Theletterfilm.org or on Facebook at The Letter-Movie/Facebook. The film is part of the larger Laudato Si international Catholic movement. The website theletterfilm.org contains many resource materials including promotional materials, how to host a screening, and teacher lesson plans for secondary and postsecondary classes on science, social studies, and theology/philosophy. It might also be appropriate for 7th and 8th graders and their families.
