St. Clare's hosting Warm Springs Tribal Emergency Collection

Those of you who get St. Clare's bulletin read today of the dire situation on the Warm Springs Reservation.  Their town water system is down to one pump, and due to some breaks in the line, unsafe river water is leaking into the system.  They barely have enough water to flush toilets, and sometimes not even that.

Worse yet, due to a Covid-19 outbreak, the entire tribe is on lockdown.

A St. Clare School Teacher who is also a Cherokee tribe member far from home is working with the tribal Elders and the Mt. Hood Cherokee council to try to help.

Needed donations are:
1.  Drinking water- distilled jugs or cases of bottles
2.  Canned soup (not the condensed kind you need to add water to)
3.  Travel sized liquid soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer

They're going to make donation easy.  Put your donation in your trunk, and drive to the St. Clare's School Parking Lot on Thursday, August 13 between 10am-1pm.  Just drive up, open your trunk or hand your keys to a volunteer, they'll unload you with proper social distancing and you'll be on your way.

Free Online New Membership Special - Limited Time Offer

My Brother Knights,

Knights of Columbus everywhere were thrilled to learn that our beloved founder will be beatified and officially declared Blessed later this year.

In recognition of this historic event, I am pleased to announce that the Supreme Council will be making a special membership offer in honor of our founder.

SPECIAL LIMITED TIME MEMBERSHIP PROMOTIONAL OFFER:
For a 2-week period commencing Wednesday, July 22 and continuing through 11:59 p.m. ET on August 5th, new members are being offered FREE ONLINE MEMBERSHIP for their first year. The Supreme Council will pay the first-year dues for every man who joins online between now and August 5. Prospects simply need to visit kofc.org/joinus and enter the code MCGIVNEY2020 to take advantage of this special offer.

Father McGivney was faced with a pandemic in the 1880s, as we are today. And in the face of that pandemic, he persevered in his efforts to evangelize those in his community, to form his parishioners in their Catholic faith, and to grow the Knights of Columbus. As his spiritual heirs, we can do nothing less.

Our pastors need the Knights of Columbus. Our fellow parishioners need the Knights of Columbus. Those impacted by COVID-19 need the Knights of Columbus. Just as holy founder surely would, let us resolve to Leave No Neighbor Behind, and to offer every Catholic man the opportunity to join the Order that he founded some 138 years ago.

Vivat Jesus!

Fraternally,

Mark McMullen

Help Requested - St. Francis of Assisi Church

Brother Knights,

Fr, George, Deacon Greg and your State Deputy have requested help on Saturday August 1st from 9am to 12pm moving pews & the alter.

If you have ever been to St. Francis of Assisi in SE PDX you will notice the alter and pews are not located in the right direction. Since Fr. George has taken over he has made some incredibly positive moves at St. Francis. He has decided now is the time to bring the pews and alter to their original locations. They have asked for help because they need the man power. If you can assist, also please bring if you have a cordless power screw guns to anchor the pews. The screws have already been taken out so that is one step done.

Please contact Ron Boyce (rboyce4539@aol.com or 503-730-1986) directly to let know know if you can help.

Update - Vice Supreme Master Jesse Villarreal

Here is the email Brother Jesse sent out about his latest status.

TO ALL MY BROTHER KNIGHTS,
from the latest member that joined the Order to the highest ranking officer of the State and Province.

The response for Prayer Requests during my "cage fight" three round bout with this little unexpected detour has been more than just overwhelming.  I do and have believed in PRAYER POWER but this time when I really thought I needed help was so effective that it makes me an even stronger believer.

The reaching out arms for Prayer Requests stretched so far that someone from the Vatican called me saying Pope Francis wanted to know who I was?  All kidding aside, my deepest and most sincere appreciation to each and everyone of you will always be present in my heart.

May God and Father Michael McGivney bless you and your families.

My condition is now on the mending side and am anxiously looking forward to getting back in touch with all you, my brothers, either by air-stream or in person as in the old fashion way.

Please stay active, stay healthy and by all means KEEP PRAYING.  Father McGivney pray for us.  Our Lady of Guadalupe pray for us.

VIVAT JESUS.

Jesse C. Villarreal
Vice Supreme Master

St. Elizabeth of Hungary - Assistance Requested

I had the privilege of meeting Fr. Joseph Nguyen (socially distant) today. He is the new pastor at my parish of St. Elizabeth. There was a group of parishioners helping him get the living space in order today.

Father says that he will take whatever help anyone can offer. He said to stop by anytime time Saturday or Sunday. Best case scenario would be everything is done and you can just say hi. I will be stopping by tomorrow for a bit to give some assistance. If anyone needs for information, please contact Elizabeth at St. Elizabeth Hungary or myself.

In addition, we briefly chatted about the KoC and hope to continue the dialog in more depth after he is settled in.

Priest Requests help with some labor

As was reported on this blog earlier, St. Elizabeth of Hungary is getting a new priest.  We've had a request come through our chaplain from Jason Kidd for help.

I wanted to reach out to see if you could invite some of the St C’s Knights to consider lending a hand at St. Elizabeth of Hungary’s priest rectory.
Fr. Joseph Nguyen has been named the new pastor at the parish and the rectory is in dire need of updating, including new flooring.

They are hoping to get some help this week from 4 or 5 guys for a few hours to tear out the old carpet, before the contractor comes in to paint and such.  Elizabeth is the parish staff organizing.
Could you possibly share this invite with the Knights?

Thanks for all St. Clare’s is doing for the mission!

In HIM,
-Jason Kidd

Update:  Jason says that Elizabeth at St. Elizabeth Hungary is organizing this.  Please click this link to respond.
