Be a Knight to Your Lady Fundraiser
As you know, my wife (your Grand Knight) has recently changed from doing daycare for a living to selling jewelry. She has graciously agreed to do a "virtual party" for Valentines Day with a portion of the proceeds going to our Charity account.
To shop for your Lady, Go to this link. Party closes February 3rd, 2020, so that we have time to get the gifts shipped to us and wrapped for you for Valentine's Day.
Fr. Eric's homily on vocations
Missed one. At 6am, in the dark of the morning just as the sun was coming up, we had a Latin Extraordinary Form Mass in almost total darkness. Here is Fr. Eric's homily from that Mass.

Holy League Men's Conference Mission Statement
I've had the files for a half a week, and wes trying to put them on our blog. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Instead I'm putting links to the content here.
We have been asked as a council to try to find a venue for this for December 2021. 625 men attended this past December at St. Stephens, it was an entirely inadequate venue. Next year it goes back down to Salem at St. Joseph's. But what we really need is a church able to handle over 1000 men, and have a separate place to feed them.
I suspect St. Clare's in a pinch, or St. John Fisher with the new parish hall, can do this.
Holy League Mission Statement
Future posts will continue the talks in the original scheduled order, as opposed to the order we ended up hearing them when Archbishop Sample was late coming back from a funeral.

Reminder- get in your form 1728A by either e-mail or in person
Supreme and your Council Leadership want to know what you AND YOUR FAMILY do for the community! There's a new form to fill out, called the Individual Fraternal Survey Worksheet. We need these returned, by e-mail or on paper, by the Tuesday January 21 meeting so that we can compile the answers onto our council report by January 31st.
We have numbers for anything that was a true Council Event. But you do much more as a Knight. Inspired by your Knighthood, you gather friends and family into a variety of charitable causes. You give money, you visit the sick, you serve at Mass in various forms of ministries. You are the backbone of the church- what Matthew Kelly calls the 7.5% who do 90% of the work. This is the time to brag about that! Doing so helps our order keep our tax exempt status as a 501c8 organization.
Remember, not just you, but hours done by wives and children also count under the new form.
Click here to go to the PDF form that you can print out, or fill out online. Some browsers are incapable of filling it out online, but you can always print it out and bring it to our next meeting on Tuesday, January 21st at 7pm.

Given the upcoming change in degrees, this may be among one of the last chances to watch the best degree team in the business. And as the new degree will be a combined multi-degree, I urge any member who is only a 1st or 2nd Degree member to attend this degree day!

Potential scam floating around
As some of you are aware, your Grand Knight is on the Beaverton Draft Board. We're all well past draft age; however there is a new scam you should share with friends and family, and so I have decided to repost this letter I just got from the National Director of the Selective Service Administration:
--------------

January 10, 2020
Greetings State Directors and Local Board Members:
I hope this message finds you well and on your way to a superb New Year. The year 2020 is beginning with an influx of current events that have captivated our attention as a nation and impacted our Agency. I’d like to bring you up to date about some of the ways this has affected us.
As you are likely aware, last Friday morning, January 3rd, the Selective Service IT team notified us about a surge in website activity. Our social media team verified that there was a high volume of twitter traffic resulting from false allegations that a Draft had begun or was imminent. We immediately posted statements on social media platforms that the Agency was conducting business as usual and that any resumption of a Draft can only occur when Congress passes and the President signs legislation initiating a Draft. Never-the-less, our website did receive a surge of hits while IT was in the process of making standard upgrades. This caused the Agency to scale back and meter on the amount of simultaneous website visits it could process. This slowed processing, but prevented an actual website crash. This was an unfortunate “perfect storm” of events but we’re now operating normally. We just wanted you to understand what happened.
This week, a series of fraudulent text messages are being circulated throughout the country informing individuals they have been selected for a military draft. This also resulted in a flurry of inquiries from the public and the media. The Department of Homeland Security is investigating the origin of these messages.
Finally, there has been chatter about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Selective Service. The Higher Education Act requires that men to be registered with Selective Service to receive Federal student aid. FAFSA forms provide men a quick and easy method to register, comply with the law, and secure access to all the benefits linked to registration. We have experienced a number of social media posts suggesting that the FAFSA form contains deceptively fine print to trick registering men with Selective Service. That is completely untrue and mean spirited.
These examples of misinformation have generated increased public and media interest in the Selective Service, registration and related issues. I am providing this update so that you are aware of the high volume of misinformation being promulgated and in many cases the misunderstanding it generates. The silver lining of all this activity and interest in our Agency is that it allows us the opportunity to remind men how important the agency is to our nation’s readiness and how important it is that men register at SSS.gov. Should you be contacted by the media about any of these issues, please direct all inquiries to the SSS National Headquarters public affairs office at 703-605-4093 or 703-605-4103.
Again, Thank you for your service to our country, this Agency, and the mission.
Sincerely,
Don Benton
Director
Reitterating- Monthly pro-life rosaries and adoration
St. Clare's is at 2:30 on First Saturdays- exposition at 2:30, Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3pm, followed by a pro-life Rosary in reparation for sexual sins, and at 3:45 Benediction by Deacon Bill.
St John Fisher is 7:00pm on First Tuesdays, and is a similar program of adoration, pro-life Rosary, and music by our Financial Secretary Phil who is a very accomplished piano player.
If you can fit either or both of these into your schedule, we highly recommend your participation. Both are scarcely attended.

Monthly Eucharistic Adoration and Pro-life Rosary
Just a reminder, brothers, that our council sponsors an Adoration and Pro-life Rosary service at St. John Fischer church on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Brother Knight Paul Pompili officiates with piano accompaniment provided by our worthy Financial Secretary, Phil Jarvis. In Paul’s absence, Brother Deacon Scott presides. Our service last evening was sparsely attended. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend our next service on Tuesday February 4th. Better still, set a recurring calendar entry for the first Tuesday of each month and invite family and friends to attend. All are welcome.
If you have a recruit, here's a discount code for e-membership
Happy New Year!
This morning, an email went out from the Supreme Home Office to all prospective members for a New Year’s discount code for e-members. By using the code, NEWYEAR2020, any member that signs up will receive 50% off of membership ($15). This promo will continue until January 15th at Midnight EST.
Please pass this to all of your councils! Thank you!
