  Brothers, I'm wearing my Welfare and Prayer Chairman hat for this message. Fr. Joe Kunnelaya from St. Joesph parish in Prineville was hit by a car while in a crosswalk over the weekend. The accident was witnessed by a police officer who then called for a Life-flight helicopter to transport Fr. To St. Charles hospital in Bend. At last report Fr. Joe has a broken leg which will require surgery as well as injuries to arm/shoulder and other areas. His nephew is with him at the hospital and thanks the many people praying for him and asks that the prayers continue during his recovery.  I'm sure all of our priest are praying for him constantly while they participate in the convocation this week in Newport. Let's add 8000+ prayers from the Oregon Knight of Columbus to the effort as well. Please share this with your councils and parishes so we can get Fr. Joe healed up and back with his parish. Just to remind all of you that our council sponsors a pro-life Holy Hour at St. John Fisher Church on the first Monday of each month starting at 7:00pm.  There will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a pro-life rosary and Benediction.  October is Respect Life Month.  Come and pray with us for respect for the sanctity of life.  Mark your calendars for Holy Hour at 7:00pm Monday October 5 th —better still, make a recurring entry to remind you to join us on the first Monday of each month.

 Since somehow my recap of the Breakfast at SJF didn't post, I'm combining two posts in one.  First, SJF- syncing with the School Mass is beginning to pay off- we had 75 breakfasts out for the 9am Mass seating, and an additional 20 breakfasts out for the 10am Mass, for a total of 95 breakfasts served. We grossed $496 in donations Coming up quick is the breakfast at St Clare's.  I have talked to a few of you at Mass, and have started the spreadsheet of volunteers, but there are several spots still available. As usual, I'm planning on three shifts- volunteer where you can.  Some men stay the whole time, but others come for just the jobs they're interested in. Shift 1 is Saturday night after 5pm Mass- setup Shift 2 is Sunday 6:30am-10:15am (though many of the jobs on this shift might be 8-10:30 or 9-10:30, you might even be asked to go to 8:30 Mass and return after you get the Eucharist to let us know when Mass is letting out) Shift 3 is Sunday 10:30am-2pm (though we...

Just a reminder that our council is serving a pancake breakfast at St. John F isher Church this Sunday September 27th.  Doors to the Corrado Center will open at 7:00am.   Help is needed: ·      Arrive early to set up the dining area, prepare drinks and fruit cups, and crack eggs. ·      Prepare for and serving breakfast after the 9:00am Mass ·      Clean and reset the dining area, prepare and serve breakfast after the 11:00am Mass.  ·      Clean and restore the dining area and kitchen to  (better than)  its previous condition. Clean-up should be completed by 1:30pm.  Please join us whenever you can and help for as long as your schedule allows.   Let’s make this, first breakfast of this fraternal year, an enjoyable event that will keep our fellow parishioners returning for all our future breakfasts.

Brothers In the Spirit is a new spiritual outreach for Men at St. Clare's and St. John Fisher, an outgrowth of the ACTS retreat and our council's COR program.  We've been meeting in the Clare Room weekly, drop ins and drop outs welcome.  The schedule is Saturday mornings, 9am-10:30am, but we try to have coffee ready and the Mary's Garden door open by 8:45am. Gross donations were $857 Expenses were $217.08 Thanks to our wonderful shopping team, we continue to have relatively low expense despite inflation.  With 166 breakfasts served, we spent an average of $1.30/breakfast which attracted $5.16 average donation per breakfast

 In May, Brothers In the Spirit at St. Clare's, our COR outreach group that came from the November ACTS retreat spent Saturday mornings discussing St. Pope John Paul The Great's Theology of the Body. In thanks to our Knight brothers Daniel Salomon and David Villegas, this summary of our discussions came out in the email this morning, and I'm posting it here for the Good of the Order. Dear Brothers in Christ,  As we conclude our month-long discussion on Theology of the Body, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to each of you for your participation, openness, and thoughtful contributions.  I've now heard from the parish, and we're back to more the standard way we do things.   Thus, the following shifts for volunteering are available: Grocery Load in:  4pm Saturday, June 6th  Ted will also be bringing over the contents of the closet at this time Table Setup:  6pm Saturday, June 6th 1st shift Sunday June 7th:  Ted will have the room open at 6:30am, 8am-10:15 am is fine for most roles, though many hands make light work 2nd Shift Sunday June 7th:  Reverse of 1st shift, 10:30-2pm at worst, the more hands the quicker we'll be out of there.   We still need volunteers for our Mother’s Day Flowers fundraising event for Mother and Child Education Center.    We especially need help at the 11:00am and 5:30pm Masses at ST John Fisner Church.   If you will have already attended and earlier Mass and prefer just to help with the flower distribution, just arrive just before 12:00pm for the 11:00am or 6:30pm for the 5:30 to help with handing a flower to the mothers after the Masses.   If you can help with or have any questions about the event contact Gene Andres at gene.andres@comcast.net  or 773-426-4816.   Please volunteer your time to help make this fundraiser a success.
