One of the Charter Members of our Council, Rick LeFaivre, is being ordained this weekend. 11:00am Saturday St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland- Ordination 8:30am Sunday, St. Clare's - 1st Mass and reception Let us get as many Knights to these events as possible in support of Brother Rick becoming Fr. Rick LeFaivre!

Hi Brother Knights! It's still 11 days off, but this is a first reminder to sign up for service at the St. Clare breakfast on June 10.  I also wanted to thank Tom Monaco for donating a huge lot of blueberries!  They look plump and ripe!  In the past, Ted's blueberries have been a huge hit.  Thanks Ted and Tom! Another subject... please consider volunteering to being an officer for our council.  There are several vacancies from top to bottom.  We will be taking nominations at our next meeting on June 19.  Your involvement has been beneficial to our parishes and a good example to our kids.  Please continue this commitment for charitable works.  Thanks, Ken

Dear Brother Knights, Thank you for your help selling flowers after masses this weekend.  Ted and his wife Shannon were instrumental at St. Clare's - filling in at multiple masses.  Phil was at every mass, and his wife Donna helped and prepared the artistic buckets we used to collect the money.  John Keppel, Joe Mildenbeger, Mike Devlin, Paul Pompili, Jim Stahl and some parishioners helped out too.  (Hope I didn't miss anyone... but THANKS to all.)  I'm especially impressed with our newer members pitching in - ready to help.  I know we made a profit and will be able to send a check to Mother and Child Education Center... just don't know the amount yet. But like many of our activities, the "Good" that is done can't be measured in dollars.  And for what little we invested in time and money, the reward is greatly beneficial, not only to a worthy charity, but also to the mothers receiving a flower, and to our parishes as a whole who see and respond to t...

HI Brother Knights! This Saturday and Sunday, volunteers are needed after each mass at St. Clare and St. John Fisher to sell carnation flowers.  The proceeds benefit Mother & Child Education Center to buy needed items for young mothers and their children. Flowers will be delivered in buckets to both parishes prior to the Saturday evening mass.  One person is needed at each exit door to distribute flowers.  A $1 (min.) per flower donation is requested. St. Clare volunteers report to Ted Seebert (seebert42@gmail.com).  He currently needs: 1 Knight for the 5pm Saturday mass 1 Knight for the 8:30 Sunday mass 2 Knights and 1 money keeper for the 10:45 Sunday mass.  Our new members John Keppel, Joe Mildenberger and Gene Andres all put in a hard day's work at the St. John Fisher pancake breakfast.  Personally, I really appreciate the commitment of these new members who roll up their sleeves and take on responsibility.  Thank You!  In my opinion, this is a sign of deep faith and conviction to go the extra mile. Also, Tom Monaco who intends to join us soon helped out too.  Thank you Tom.  (He's not even a member yet!)  There were others who helped - but I didn't catch everyone's name.  But a special thanks to John.  We also had the company of Scott Young, and Rich Weber who are members of other K/C councils, but frequently help us - so their ongoing help is really appreciated.  Of course Mary Jane Weber always recruits the help of some youth group members and although I didn't catch all their names, it's always good to see young faces eager to earn grace serving others.  Thank You Mary Jane....

Some of you may have noticed that certain publications have decided to label the Knights as an arm of the Republican Party.  I would remind all of our brothers that the Knights are, and always have been, non-partisan. That doesn't mean we don't care about issues that perhaps one party better supports than another, but I for one think neither party at present in the United States actually supports natural law, let alone the Catholic interpretation of it.  Certainly the last two major party Presidential candidates were nowhere close to Catholic Ethics. I therefore offer this rebuttal from Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia- a city named after one of our Knightly virtues, Fraternity.  It is well worth your time to read it, especially if you have been reading one of those other publications that contains this charge. Hi Brother Knights Just a reminder that This Sunday we'll be serving pancake breakfast after the 9am and 11am masses at St. John Fisher.  The school cafeteria will be opened at 8am and clean-up is generally finished by 12:30.  Please volunteer to help out for a couple hours if you haven't already.  Thanks!

Brother Knights, If you are a first degree member - consider completing the next steps with advancement through the second and third degree ceremonies scheduled for this Saturday May 5 at St. Matthew's Knight's Hall in Hillsboro - starting at 9 a.m.  Your sponsor should attend this event with you, and the advancement moves you from the Admission degree through the Formation degree and into the Knighthood degree.   As your dues have already been paid, this advancement is included in your membership and brings you into equal status with the majority of members who are third degree members.  I encourage all of you who have not yet attained this advancement to do so this weekend, as it will be some time before the 2nd and 3rd degree ceremonies are offered again.  And then, it might not be available nearby.
