Hello Brother Knights,
At our next KofC meeting on Tuesday, April 19th we will be continuing our discussion on our book by Matthew Kelly Life is Messy with Part 3. Part 3 of the book will be starting with the chapter The great rehumanization through the chapter Morning the life that could have been. For those that do not have the book, you may still be able to pick one up at Church or contact me directly to have a copy delivered to you.
This book is about putting our lives back together, and allowing ourselves to be put back together, when life doesn’t turn out as we expected it to. Based on his own heart-wrenching personal journals, Matthew Kelly shares how the worst three years of his life affected him, by exploring this question: Can someone who has been broken be healed and become more beautiful and more lovable than ever before?
Here are some possible discussion questions that have been recommended for you to think on as you read the 3rd part:
Question 1: Matthew Kelly says to rehumanize we need to banish indifference from our hearts. Indifference is the opposite of love.
- How can we do this?
- Carelessness, thoughtlessness, and recklessness rob us of tenderness. How have they robbed you of tenderness? What effect has that had on you? How does that erode our humanity?
Question 2: “It’s natural to turn to comfort in times of pain, distress, exhaustion, trauma, and suffering.”
- What is the purpose of comfort? What can you do today to comfort yourself in a way that brings forth healing?
Question 3: We need a steady stream of inspiration!
- Where do you get your inspiration?
- List ordinary things that bring you joy when you experience them consciously.
Thank you all,
Marc Gregoire
