K of C Council 15485 March 15, 2022 Hybrid Meeting Notes - Recorded by James M. Morgan

 Note:   This was a virtual meeting wherein some members attended Remote-On-Line while others met at St. Clare Church's Fireside Room.

7 pm   Call to Order

  • Ted Seeber did a membership check on all members present
  • Prayer - Our Father
  • Pledge of Allegiance
  • Approval of Previous Meetting Minutes recorded by Ted Seeber
7:10 pm      GK's Remarks (Marc Gregoire)
  • Marc discussed the Ukraine Crises and discussed some efforts that the K of C was doing to help.
  • He discussed the Exemplification service for Richard Digregorio
  • He discussed that we didn't have any forms due
  • Most importantly, Marc pointed out that are June officer's nominations will be affected by the fact that he and his wife are moving to Seattle, WA and that Financial Secretary Phil Jarvis is definitely resigning
7:20 pm Treasurers Report  / Mike Devlin
  • Beginning checking account Balance      $1,585.45
  • Add dues $35 and $42.50                               77.50
  • Present Balance                                                                                         $1,662.95
  • Subtract 3 still outstanding Essay Winners  checks:   Less   $175.00
  • Real balance after Essay checks are cashed:                                          $1,487.95
  • Unity Savings Account Balance               $543.81
  • Charity Savings Account Balance            $5.71
7:30 pm     Financial Secretary Report   / Phil Jarvis
  • Phil sent in Form 100 for Richard Digregorio to State
  • He sent in our Semi-Annual Audit Form.
  • He will also contact State to determine why they said our member Ralph Dieker was not a member.
7:35 pm   For the good of the Order
  • Ted Seeber and Mike O'Phelan presented a short skit previously used and discontinued during exemplifications. We were reminded that the Anchor is our symbol for Hope, etc.
  • Mike O'Phelen reminded us that Catholics were discriminated against (along with Blacks) in the U.S. as immigrants and throughout the early 1900s!
7:40 pm   Committees
  • Program Director Gene Andres didn't have anything to contribute
  • St. Clare Parish' Ted Seeber & Mike O'Phelan  said they might be asked to set up a Easter Egg Hunt at the parish.
  • St. Elizabeth of Hungary' Marc Gregoire didn't have anything to contribute
  • St. John Fisher' Gene Andres and Mike Devlin pointed out that we were organizing a breakfast
  • Faith Director Don Mey pointed out that 1st Communion and Confirmation Services were coming up
  • Community Director Michael Chau was absent
  • Life Director Ted Seeber announced that his wife Shannon had undergone surgery
  • Family Director Ted Seeber didn't have anything to say about Family
  • Membership Director Ted Seeber discussed our last Exemplification and asked us to forward any perspective K of C candidates directly to him ASAP
  • Retention Chairman Mike O'Phelan noted that a request for late-dues was sent to one member.
7:50 pm   Our council had a candid discussion about the book Life is Messy by Matthew Kelly (pages                    26 to 50).
  • We covered issues such as: Have you ever gone through long periods of excruciating suffering?; What conversations are you avoiding?; Have you ever done anything that has negatively altered the course of your life or someone else's life?; Are you a gossip who has been hurt by gossip or who has hurt other people with gossip?; and finally, we discussed the vices and virtues of social media.
7:55 pm   K of C Business
  • No neighbor Left Behind: James M. Morgan reported that he had contacted every member of our council in the month of March, and he reported everyone appeared okay.
  • The Essay Contest was discussed
  • The question of finding a Seminarian to contribute money to was discussed
  • And attendance to the State Convention (April 22-24) in Lebanon, OR was discussed
  • We discussed who should be on the K of C bank accounts and voted for the Financial Secretary and the Treasurer to be the people with signatory authority.  As Financial Secretary is ending soon, Ted Seeber proposed and Tom Owens Seconded to have Phil Jarvis and Erik Riechers go to Rivermark and make sure Eric and Mike Devlin have access for continued.  Motion Passed.
8:10 pm   New Business
  • We discussed and approved who could access our bank accounts
  • We discussing calling everyone and inviting them to church
  • We discussed a pancake breakfast at St. John Fisher in May and at St. Clare later this summer
  • We discussed help for members who might be having financial problems paying their dues. State will adjust their State per capita billinjg, so we do not have to worry about charging then any dues for this fraternal year.

  • Everyone in the medical profession who has helped us with our health
  • Everyone who is in need of the Lord's healing grace.
  • God bless the work of the council and its members and grant eternal peace to the souls of departed members.
