Breakfast Volunteers still needed

As usual, I haven't heard from all the folks.  We still need dining room crew both shifts, and cleanup.  Send me an email at seebert42@gmail.com or text me at 503-318-1508 and let me know if you can be there Sunday, November 2 at St. Clare's.

Interesting, but time consuming volunteer opportunity

Due to a combination of health and work reasons, one of our Trustees has pulled out from being a judge for the Essay Contest.  If you'd like to learn about the Popes from the point of view of 8th graders, the ones I have read so far are fascinating.  Let me know if you'd like me to forward the PDF of SJF essays, and by the end of the week I am expecting the St. Clare Essays as well. Email me if you'd like to be a judge at seebert42@gmail.com

Acts Retreat Business and ways to help

To Sign Up for the Saint Clare Acts Retreat November 13-16, Click through to this link to the parish website .  Still 7 slots available, according to Fr. Don this morning.  St. Clare's men only until November 2 then he'll open up registration to other parishes. For anybody not going on this retreat we have a couple of volunteer requests for the same weekend: Contact Michael Chau at 971-770-4797  if you can give him a ride to Mass that weekend.  All the normal suspects are going to be on the retreat.  He normally goes to 8:30 at St. Clare's but will gladly go to any available Mass at SJF, St. Clare's, or St. Anthony's.  He lives on 130th off of Scholls Ferry in Tigard/Beaverton, to give you an idea how much of an ask this is. Contact John Creegan at 503-314-5164, he'd like to go on retreat but needs to arrange for some dog sitting on the days of the retreat.  John lives off of Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy in Hillsdale.

Light crowd at SJF today

But still a successful Breakfast.  Special thanks to Steve Hall, who showed up early to learn to make pancakes with Scott Young. $257 was the net profit after expenses.

Sad news from Dan and Jaz Riechers

Jaz has had a miscarriage, and needs an operation to deal with it.  They are requesting prayers, but no extra communication at this time.

Breakfast Volunteers needed, St. John Fisher, October 19, 8am-1pm

Even if you can just volunteer for part of the time, please email mdevprop@comcast.net  to let Mike Devlin know you'll be there.

St. Clare Acts Men's Retreat, November 13-16

We heard this morning at Mass that only 8 men have signed up for 25 slots for the St. Clare Acts Men's Retreat.  Fr. Don would like this to be full.  It is $300, but scholarships are available.  Click into the blog, then click on this link to register.

Date Change: Monthly Holy Hour at St. John Fisher

The day of our council sponsored Pro-Life Holy Hour at St John Fisher is changing from the first Tuesday of each month to the first Monday.   Brother Deacon Scott suggested the change and we, who normally participate, agreed.     The reasons for making the change: there is no daily Mass on Mondays at SJF church, and there is a Holy Hour every Tuesday morning before Mass.   Please update your calendar to move the Holy Hour at SJF from the first Tuesday to the first Monday of each month and plan to participate .

October 5 volunteers still needed

My spreadsheet is indeed filling up fast!  Message seebert42@gmail.com or call 503-318-1508 to volunteer. Still available are mainly the public facing roles: Shift 1 8am-10:15am  Serving line- Can go to 8:30 Mass if you pull a Judas Shuffle and come immediately after taking communion, not waiting for the end of Mass, to let us know when the crowd is going to hit! Dining Room & fruit cups- during the first hour and a half you'll be finishing setup, then it's bussing tables and resetting tables as people finish.  Maybe taking a plate of additional pancakes around if we've got extras. Shift 2:  10:30-cleanup Serving Line- Can go to 10:45 Mass if you pull a Judas Shuffle and come immediately after taking communion, not waiting for the end of Mass, to let us know when the crowd is going to hit! Dining Room & Cleanup- the more hands the better, but this is by far the lighter crowd, usually around 75% compared to Shift 1. Remember, families can and should vo...
