Life is Messy by Matthew Kelly (Current Knights Discussion Book - Part 3)

Hello Brother Knights,

At our next KofC meeting on Tuesday, April 19th we will be continuing our discussion on our book by Matthew Kelly Life is Messy with Part 3. Part 3 of the book will be starting with the chapter The great rehumanization through the chapter Morning the life that could have been. For those that do not have the book, you may still be able to pick one up at Church or contact me directly to have a copy delivered to you.

This book is about putting our lives back together, and allowing ourselves to be put back together, when life doesn’t turn out as we expected it to. Based on his own heart-wrenching personal journals, Matthew Kelly shares how the worst three years of his life affected him, by exploring this question: Can someone who has been broken be healed and become more beautiful and more lovable than ever before?

Here are some possible discussion questions that have been recommended for you to think on as you read the 3rd part:

Question 1: Matthew Kelly says to rehumanize we need to banish indifference from our hearts.  Indifference is the opposite of love.
  • How can we do this?
  • Carelessness, thoughtlessness, and recklessness rob us of tenderness.  How have they robbed you of tenderness?  What effect has that had on you? How does that erode our humanity?
Question 2: “It’s natural to turn to comfort in times of pain, distress, exhaustion, trauma, and suffering.”
  • What is the purpose of comfort? What can you do today to comfort yourself in a way that brings forth healing?
Question 3: We need a steady stream of inspiration!
  • Where do you get your inspiration?
  • List ordinary things that bring you joy when you experience them consciously.

Thank you all,
Marc Gregoire

Party at the Seebers

Very late notice.  So not really a council event. I just did not have a better way to notify everybody.

It has been a week and Shannon is doing well.

And it is Easter!

So party time!

The Seebers will be hosting an Argentinian Asada from 2pm-8pm Easter Sunday at 5470 SW Erickson Ave. Beaverton, OR 97005.

Meat will be provided.  All else is potluck.  Swing by any time in those hours if you can.

And Shannon would love to have visitors anytime.

Ted needs help preparing for Shannon to come home

Shannon Seeber, after a long recovery from brain surgery, comes home April 12.

Ted has been at the hospital every day since the surgery on March 14, and the family has had a covid-related hording problem fir a couple of years now.

Ted's family will be up with the big dump truck on Saturday, April 9.  There are several jobs that need to be accomplished:
-cleaning and organizing the master bath and bedroom to allow for walker and cane use
-adding safety grab bars to the master bath
-organizing additional safety and medical equipment in master bathroom
-organizing the kitchen, dining room, and living room to allow for walker/cane use
-separating garbage, unfinished projects, and left over daycare toys in back yard to create space for a coming home BBQ for Easter.

Any time you can donate to this day, would be helpful.  Even if you cannot work at Ted's house, visiting Shannon in the hospital on this day to free up Ted for the hard task of declutter decisions would be helpful.
