K of C Council 15485 Hybrid Meeting April 19, 2022 - Recorder James M. Morgan

 

7:00 pm     Call to Order

  • Warden's membership check

  • Roll Call of Officers
  • The minutes from the last meeting were approved
7:05 pm     GK's Remarks (Marc Gregoire)
  • Marc discussed the KofC 365 Club & how it works. The Grand knight & the financial secretary are the ones allowed to discuss the emergency needs of Knights and the 365 Club
  • Marc discussed the approaching May 2, 2022 pancake breakfast at St. John Fisher: he recommended that we get food handlers permits.
  • He concluded by saying there are no forms due at this time.
7:10      Treasurer's Report ... Mike Devlin

7:15     Financial Secretary's Report  ... Phil Jarvis
            We have 1 member who hasn't paid his dues in spite of several dues requests.

7:20 pm      For the Good of the Order ... Mike O'Phelan

       Mike gave us a wonderful sermon based on the Book of Corinthians Chp. 4 vs 6 and chp verse1.
       Our physical bodies are like 'jars of clay', they can be broken easily and so can our spiritual lives.

7:30 pm     Committees 
  • Program Director Gene Andres discussed things we could do for Mother's Day
  • St. Clare's Representative Ted Seeber discussed setting up and dismantling the Easter Egg hunt
  • St. Elizabeth of Hungary rep. Marc Gregoire said 'Nothing going on there'
  • St. John Fisher rep. Gene Andres didn't have anything to report, but Mike Devlin said he would like to show members where things were in the remodeled kitchen
  • Faith Director Don Mey said the "St. Clare Coffee & Donuts event" went well, but they are still finding people needed to make it work efficiently
  • Community Director Michael Chau told us how different activities were beginning to open up
  • Life Director-Family Director-Membership Director Ted Seeber has been totally occupied by taking care of his wife Shannon
  • Retention Chairman Mike O'Phelan will resolve what to do about our 1 member who has not paid his dues.
7:40 pm   Life is Messy by Matthew Kelly was discussed by our council members. 
  • We discussed how to rehumanize ourselves when we strayed off course from our value systems
  • We discussed how indifference is the opposite of love, and how to care about other people
  • We discussed the importance of making ourselves comfortable
  • And we discussed the need to have a steady stream of positive inspiration in our lives
8 pm     K of C business
  • No neighbor left behind phone calls: James Morgan contacted every member and asked them to attend our meeting. Every one is doing well is spite of some hurdles in their lives! 
  • Don Mey discussed the possibility of telephoning members at St. John Fisher to invite them to church services
  • We discussed the pancake breakfast at St. John Fisher on 5/1/22 and St. Clare on 6/12/22
  • Ted Seeber moved that we donate $500.00 to the Bishop White Seminary and James Morgan seconded the motion.  All members voted their approval of the motion and it passed.
  • Ted Seeber and Michael Chau pointed out that there hasn't been any action to creat a Special Needs Adaptive Mass at this time
8:15 pm     New Business
  • Mike Devlin also discussed the possibility of telephoning members at St. John Fisher to invite them to mass.
  • Don Mey and Tom Owens discussed the humanitarian work of Fr. Galluzzo
  • Marc Gregoiare reinterated that, "If we have any members who have lost their jobs or who are in financial difficulties, State will adjust their State per capita billing, so we do not have to worry about charging them any dues for this fraternal year
8:25 pm     District Deputy / State Officers (none)
           Installation of officers for new term  is still on hold for a New District Deputy

8:26 pm   Sick of in Distress  / Open with a prayer Hail Mary
  • Continued prayers for Shannon Seeber who is recovering from surgery with Ted Seebers help
  • Prayers for Mike O'Phelan's brother John who is suffering with vascular dimentia
  • Prayers for Mary O'Phelan who is suffering from "long-haul covid"
  • Prayers for Michael Chau's grandmother who has been suffering for a long time from several health problems including Shingles
  • Tom Owen's asked that we prayfully remember his son Bob Owen's who died in a car accident.
  • Prayers for Marc Gregoire who is preparing to have another surgery
  • Prayers for medical professionals who have been risking their lives to save covid patients lives
