Marian Dogmas

Hi Brother Knights.  Merry Christmas

I was reading a blog about the possible fifth and final dogma of Mary; that she is the Advocate, Mediatrix of all graces and Co-Redemptrix.  These terms are somewhat confusing and easily misunderstood.  All this is not approved yet.. .and may never be.  But the conversation by theologians is pretty interesting.

The Catholic Church, in her history, has approved four Marian Dogmas:
1.  Divine Motherhood (Mother of God)
2.  Perpetual Virginity
3.  Immaculate Conception (She was conceived free from original sin)
4.  The Assumption (Taken to heaven body and soul)

Incidentally, the "infallibility" of the pope has only been used twice in the past 100 years or so in connection with establishing these last two dogmas.  Infallibility is grossly misunderstood by non- Catholics who think we believe everything the pope says is infallible.

Incidentally #2; Mary identified herself as "The Immaculate Conception" to Bernadette in Lourdes France, during the apparitions there.  Bernadette had never heard that term before, but repeated what she had heard.  Those apparitions have been approved by the Vatican.

So anyway, this fifth dogma, if it happens in our lifetime, would be very interesting.  And here's some of the discussion here:
