My Dear Brother Knights,
Merry Christmas!  And Happy New Year!

First up for the new year is a pancake breakfast at St. John Fisher on January 8th.  We'll start setting up at 8 am.  I have some SJF youth to help as well.

If you are able to volunteer for part of the day or all day, please let me know.

And Ted and Ken, how can we help you in getting the supplies from the closet and shopping for supplies?

  God bless.

Catechism & Popes In a Year- adult learning in your e-mail every morning in 2017

Ready to break another world record? Let's make the largest group in history to ever study the catechism (i.e. y'all!)...even bigger.

It's free, simple and effective. You get one email a day (MON-FRI) and cover the entire catechism in a year!

To sign yourself up for Catechism in a year, click here.

To invite your friends, just email or share this link: flocknote.com/catechism.
We also have Popes in a year!

We know the current pope traces his authority all the way back to the first pope (St. Peter). But do you know much about all the popes in between? Join us (and thousands of your closest friends) on a journey from St. Peter all the way to Pope Francis. Each weekday morning, we'll send you a short, engaging 2-minute something about one pope. By the end of the year, you'll know something about every single one!

To invite your friends, just email or share this link: flocknote.com/popes

We look forward to another great year with you!

Merry Christmas and happy new year,

Marian Dogmas

Hi Brother Knights.  Merry Christmas

I was reading a blog about the possible fifth and final dogma of Mary; that she is the Advocate, Mediatrix of all graces and Co-Redemptrix.  These terms are somewhat confusing and easily misunderstood.  All this is not approved yet.. .and may never be.  But the conversation by theologians is pretty interesting.

The Catholic Church, in her history, has approved four Marian Dogmas:
1.  Divine Motherhood (Mother of God)
2.  Perpetual Virginity
3.  Immaculate Conception (She was conceived free from original sin)
4.  The Assumption (Taken to heaven body and soul)

Incidentally, the "infallibility" of the pope has only been used twice in the past 100 years or so in connection with establishing these last two dogmas.  Infallibility is grossly misunderstood by non- Catholics who think we believe everything the pope says is infallible.

Incidentally #2; Mary identified herself as "The Immaculate Conception" to Bernadette in Lourdes France, during the apparitions there.  Bernadette had never heard that term before, but repeated what she had heard.  Those apparitions have been approved by the Vatican.

So anyway, this fifth dogma, if it happens in our lifetime, would be very interesting.  And here's some of the discussion here:

Funeral Services were held on SaturdayNovember 12th at Immaculate Conception Church in Stayton for Sir Knight Donald E Porter an Honorary Life Member of St Anthony Council 2439 and a member of the Knights for over 55 years.  Don was also a 4th Degree Member of Archbishop Howard Assembly 900.  Prayers are requested for the repose of Donald soul.

Anna Silvia, wife of Frank R Silvia Jr. Passed away on Monday, November 14th 2014 from complications of diabetes.  Frank is the Immediate Past Grand Knight of council 7246 in Newport and a Past DD and Past State Warden.  There were no plans for a service at that time. Please pray for Anna’s soul and for healing for Frank and their son and daughter.

On November 15 our Brother, good friend and PSD Dave Denton had surgery at River Bend Hospital in Eugene to remove the large tumor in and around his stomach area.
Joyce has informed us that, "the surgery was a success and the Doctor felt confident he got it all". To get it all...they had to take half his stomach, much of his pancreas and his spleen.
Dave came home on Thanksgiving day. Joyce is happy with Dave's progress but its going to be a long hard road to recovery. Please keep Dave and Joyce in your prayers.

Brother Florian "Pat" Peters passed away on November 17th. Pat was born on July 7, 1926 and was 90 when he passed away. Pat became a Knight in April 1950 and had 66 continuous years of service as a Knight. He was a Charter member of Council #3591. Pray for his soul and his family.
