Good Neighbor Center needs Envelope stuffers

Are you free for an hour or two tomorrow, Wednesday May 28th? We could use help stuffing envelopes for our annual appeal letter. We will begin at 9 am and go until all 1900 letters are stuffed and labeled. PLEASE let us know if you can assist by emailing volunteer@goodneighborcenter.org

Volunteer Request

We need volunteers for the annual Junque and Jewels sale. The Knights are responsible for setting up the Gym, but due to the amount of work, we're going to be separating the setup into two sessions:
Friday, June 13th, 7pm-9pm, set up the floor. If we get at least 5 volunteers, this will be the lighter duty session.
Saturday, June 14th, 8am-noon, set up tables. All hands on deck for this duty, and if anybody has a truck, we could use it. We use EVERY long table in the school and church for this event, several older ones need to be brought from the shed behind the school.

Christ in the Womb May 24-25, The Word Made Flesh 2015

Editor's note- due to the holiday weekend, I missed posting this on time.

The Word was made Flesh . . . Following Baby Jesus in the womb
8 Weeks
The Baby is now 8 Weeks old and well proportioned -- about the size of a thumb. Every organ is present. The liver is making blood, the kidneys function, and the heart beats steadily. The skull, elbows, and knees are forming. Along with the spine, arm and leg bones begin to stiffen as bone cells are added.
Baby’s approximate due date: December 25, 2014
--------------------------
The Word Made Flesh for May 23-24, 2015

8 weeks old

Our little girl is now 8 weeks old. Her heart is beating steady- all the organs are present. Mom & Dad can hear her heart beating on the ultrasound, as they follow God's first commandment. In Genesis Chapter 1 and 9, the commandment is given to Adam and Eve, and later repeated to Noah, to be fruitful and multiply. But this isn't only Judaeo-Christian, recent discoveries at Swansea University in Wales while examining a very ancient, very small Egyptian sarcophagus reveal not only its ancient origins, but a fetal mummy, most likely a stillbirth. The loving care of ancient royal parents has something to teach us today- that life truly does begin at conception.

Baby's approximate due date: December 25, 2014

May 19 Meeting Notes

Knights of Columbus Meeting Notes

John Claire Council #15485

May 19, 2014

A 1st Degree was held before the regular meeting.

Officers Present were GK, DGK, FS,Warden, Lecturer, 2 Year Trustee, and District Deputy.
Our Recorder was not in Attendance, Trustee James Michael Morgan took the notes.

In between the 1st Degree and the Meeting, we viewed the DVD of Supreme Knight Carl Anderson's Address to the State Convention.

The following council business topics occurred in order of their discussion discussion:

1. The Grand Knight Ted Seeber reviewed the problems associated with St. Clare’s coffee and donut program and reported on the last State K of C meeting in Hillsboro.

2. Nick Geunther, State Deputy, reported who the newly elected state officers are, and he reported that he was moving to Salem. He also discussed the June 28, 29 State K of C meeting that will train Grand Knights, Deputy Grand Knights, Financial Secretaries and membership directors.

3. Phil Jarvis presented the Treasurer Report and noted that we had an accurate pending balance of $1,633.00. He noted that the council took in $35.00 from dues, $60.00 for DVD sales and that it wrote a check to reimburse Ted Seeber $173.25 for breakfast products. The council discussed what to do about the unpaid-dues members.

4. A Good of the Order talk was given by Mike O’Phalan. The topic was “The Kingdom is beyond our reach and our imagination …”

5. A report was made by the Baby Bottles Committee and Mother Day Flower Sale Committee. After the purchase of $112 for carnations, the council made a profit of $115 for the sale of carnations.
--Updated by Grand Knight, final profit from the Carnation Sale was $176, a warrant was issued the next day to send a check to Mother and Child.

6. The Charity Giving Policy was tabled until we get a quorum to vote on our policy.

7. James M. Morgan, 1st year Trustee, conducted the nomination process for the selection of council officers.

The following people were nominated:

Grand Knight (Ted Seeber & Jim Van Domelen);
Deputy (Kevin Haggen, Ted Seeber, & Ken Paulsen);
Chancelor (John Creegan, Tom Owens, & Polinus Vuoche);
Recorder (Ken Paulsen, Jim Van Domelen);
Treasurer (Ted Seeber & Mike Devlin);
Advocate (Michael Chou, Mark Gregoire, & Tom Owens);
Warden (Michael Chou, Kevin Haggen, & Ivan Ward);
Inside Guard (Kevin Haggin & Brian Burby);
Outside Guard (Denny Codd & Polinus Vuoche);
3rd year-Trustee (Ted Owens, Ted Seeber & Paul Kowash) and 2nd-year Trustee (Brian Burby).
--Grand Knight remark on this item: As you can see, we've got a leadership crisis of our own. It is vitally important that we get a large number of Knights to the June meeting, when nominations will be reopened and we will vote.

8. Don Halloway will be our new insurance agent and he will have an open house meeting at St. Anthony’s O’Reilly Hall on 5/31/2014 between 10 am -2 pm. Families and potential recruits for the Knights are invited! Tempus Fugit, Memento Mori. Time flies, remember death

Day 52
The Baby has the appearance of a miniature doll with complete fingers, toes, and ears. Spontaneous movement begins. The Baby then develops a collection of movements during the next 4 Weeks , including hiccupping, frowning, squinting, furrowing the brow, pursing the lips, moving individual arms and legs, turning the head, touching the face, breathing without air, stretching, opening the mouth, yawning, and sucking.

Psalm 139 tells us that God knit us together in the womb. By the 52nd day after conception, our baby girl's father and mother can now visit her on 3D ultrasound. She now has fingers, toes and ears, and is moving and learning the behaviors we associate with being human.

Her due date is December 25, 2015

Christ in the Womb for May 11

Baby Jesus in the womb
May 11 Bulletin
Day 42
The Baby develops nerve connections that will lead to a sense of smell. Eyelids begin to form, protecting the developing eyes. Internal organs are present, but immature. 99% of muscles are present; each has its own nerve supply. Electrical activity is detectable in the brain.
Baby’s approximate due date: December 25, 2014
-----------------
The Word Made Flesh for May 9-10, 2015.

In John 19:25-27, we have the utterly touching scene at the foot of the cross- Jesus passing on his responsibility for Mary's welfare to the Apostle John. Mary of course, had been Christ's mother since the Annunciation, but now, she was becoming Our Lady, Our Mother. With our little girl we are following in the womb, who shares her due date with the birthday of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we're seeing the first detectable signs of the melding of body and soul. 99% of muscles are present; each has its own nerve supply. Electrical activity is detectable in the brain. The child is detectable on early ultrasound- the heartbeat can be heard- and the mother starts considering a name for the baby- and since it's May and Mother's day, the name chosen is Maria.

Baby's due date, December 25, 2015.

Autism and Pro-Life

As you all know, your grand knight has autism. High functioning to be sure- so high functioning I wasn't diagnosed until very late in life- but still, autism.

The article yesterday in Crisis Magazine about them finally finding a prenatal test for autism, reminded me of this Letter from a Mother I once found at George Tiller's Abortion Clinic Website.

If there is any doubt left that prenatal testing is pro-abortion and that abortion is a genocide, I offer those two links as my proof.

Just one more link in the chain of why I am the unfit and why I oppose the bigotry against the unplanned.

To help recruit younger members

Fr. Stobie and the Pastoral Council are trying to recruit young parents for the Pastoral Council. It occurred to me that we also need to be recruiting younger Knights. One way to do so is to highlight a new insurance program Supreme is offering:
